Your first tattoo
in Salt Lake City.

You do not need to arrive with a finished drawing. A clear idea, a few good references, and an honest conversation about placement are a useful starting point.

Bring a direction, not just a screenshot.

Save a few references and note what you like about each one: the shape, the linework, the mood, or the placement. A photo of someone else’s tattoo can explain a preference, while your artist develops an individual design for you. Include a personal photo if a particular mountain, flower, or place is important.

Make the practical details clear.

Choose a placement and estimate the space in inches. Include the left or right side when it matters. Tell the studio whether you are considering a new tattoo, a cover-up, or a rework; those need different conversations. A flexible size range is useful when the amount of detail is still undecided.

Ask these questions at consultation.

  • Which parts of the reference can be kept clear at my preferred size?
  • How would you arrange this idea for the placement?
  • What is included in the quote, and what are the deposit and rescheduling policies?
  • How does the studio handle design revisions and the appointment plan?
  • What preparation and aftercare instructions should I follow from my artist?

Choose an artist through their actual work.

Use the studio’s current artist profiles and Instagram portfolios to compare styles. Look for examples relevant to your idea and ask to see healed work when available. If you have a preferred artist, include their name in the inquiry.

Book through the current studio process.

SLC Ink Tattoo is based at Raventhorn Manor in downtown Salt Lake City. Send your idea through the current inquiry form, or use the appointment scheduler when you know the artist and appointment type you need. Confirm availability before traveling for a walk-in.

For current eligibility, preparation, and aftercare requirements, follow the studio’s own instructions and speak with your artist. Use the studio FAQ and aftercare page as your next references.
